Title sequence - A Clockwork Orange

The title sequence of 'A Clockwork Orange' is quite long but doesn't contain many titles, it has the company the production company and the name of the film. The sequence starts out as a bright red screen and this has clear connotations of blood this is on screen for about 23 seconds.

The next shot has a completely bright blue screen with the production company on it but the final shot to the title sequence is back to an orangey red. The titles were in a simple font so it doesn't give much of an idea of what kind of film it is but in a way it makes you a bit uncertain and uneasy.

The next shot is of a man and because we see him first we presume that he is a crucial character but as we zoom out we see other characters in similar outfits so they are part of the club or group that he is in. When we see him first an then the others it gives us the idea that he id the leader. In this shot he is staring right at the camera which also gives a sense of unease and makes you think that you are being drawn into the film and that builds up as the camera zooms out and shows you the rest of the room that they are in.

The room that we see has extras in and it is clearly a place for them all to hang out so maybe a club or a bar. The room is in deep purple with white writing in the walls. the writing is in a blobby font with a very retro style so we know the date it is set in but the writing also has slight sexual connotations.  When we move move out we see that the room is full of white naked manikins, they also have coloured hair so it might usually be quite a fun place and it has slight suggestions of a circus, as he also had exaggerated eye lashes.  When the camera zooms out we see that there are other people and the room that should be fun and lively is full with miserable and crying people.
